LI Corn Among In-Season Treats At Local Farm Stands

After a wet and cold spring, Three Village's two farm stands are finally flourishing with the arrival of Long Island-grown produce.

Corn, peaches, blueberries, radishes, escarole, romaine and Boston lettuces, kale, beets, onions, string beans and fava beans are what you'll find at Ann Marie's Farm Stand.

"It's picking up nicely now," said the owner, Mary Ann Deriso. "We should have been this way three weeks ago." But it's OK now. The growing season is going really well right now."

At nearby Pantaleon's Farm Stand, which has a farm in Riverhead, you'll find corn, sugar plums, cucumbers, lettuces and spinach, radishes, onions, potatoes, carrots, zucchini, and broccoli.

Deriso said tomato season, along with peppers and eggplants, are only about two weeks away.
