Grab & Go Kids Planner: Celebrate Elmo's Birthday, Make Maple Syrup, or Get Gaming

A weekly guide to what's happening this weekend for kids.

With winter break in full swing, check out these events and more in our events calendar perfect for kids, 'tweens and teens.


Where/When: Borders Books, Saturday, Feb. 26 at 2:00 p.m.
Why Go: Kids ages 3 to 6 can attend a "birthday party" for Elmo's third birthday. Note: This is not a costume character event.
Price: Free

Where/When: , Saturday, Feb. 25 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Collect the sap, boil it down, smell the fire, feel its warmth, and taste the syrup at the end of the day. All phases of maple sugaring will be demonstrated, along with maple sugar candy.
Price: $6 adults, $5 children and seniors

Where/When: Emma S. Clark Memorial Library, Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Why Go: Conducted by the Cornell Cooperative Extension, teens will learn responsibility for caring for young ones while babysitting.

Why Go: SBU offers summer camps for all ages and interests, whether it's acting, art, medicine, sports and more. Kids and parents can meet camp staff, ask questions, and sign up for camp.
