Girl Scouts Shop for a Cause

Local troop had the chance to donate new clothes to the nonprofit group Clothes 4 Souls.

A dozen Girl Scouts from Troop 411 had the chance to go on a shopping spree at Cottontails in Stony Brook for a good cause – using prize money that they won in the Ward Melville Heritage Organization's recent holiday contests.

The clothes they picked out will go to children in orphanages via the organization Clothes 4 Souls, for which Cottontails owner Kathy Pagano has been collecting clothing. "The troop was very enthusiastic and eager to make the perfect selection ... I hope the girls are proud of their choice to use the money to help less fortunate children living in orphanages all over the world," Pagano said.

After they picked out the clothes – totaling about $350 – the girls reflected on the experience, saying they learned from the experience. "I learned about giving," said Cassidy Turner, age 8. "It felt really good to know that I was helping someone."

"It was pretty fun because we got to choose an outfit but it was hard because you had to make some decisions," added Jennifer Cabrera, age 8. "It's not about shopping, it's about who you're giving it to."

I agree..maybe that is one of the reasons road pavement safety lines and striping esp. in the 3VRead More area are virtually non existent!! VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION that leaves the TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN liable involving accidents and fatalities. I think the new T.O.B. highway super, (D. L.) should make this a priority!

So, essentially that first residential home is being written off as the price of doing business.Read More There goes that property value. Other than as a professional residence, who would want to live by a driveway for that traffic? As for the entrance Village Automotive, that will bring even more traffic to an already busy intersection nearby. 25A is impassable/impossible in that area for large chunks of the day now.

The rezoning is for the acres of undeveloped residential land across from Ann Maries Farm stand,Read More extending down to the wooded area on 25A. A one way entrance would be placed by Village Automotive and a one way exit would come out on N. Country Rd. adjacent to the first residential house.
