Get Out: A Night On The Town; Walk Through History

A weekly guide to what's happening this weekend.

It’s Thursday and the work week is coming to an end. Now you’re wondering what to do with your weekend, right? Wouldn’t it be nice to not have to plan or think about what to do with your free time this weekend? Let us do the thinking for you; we've got some activities for you to check out.

  • FRIDAYS NEVER FELT SO GOOD - AQUA

Where/When:  AQUA, Danfords Hotel & Marina – Port Jefferson, Friday, May 13, 8 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Why Go: The work week is over and it's Friday night; time to get out and have some fun. AQUA, an upscale waterfront dance club and tapas lounge overlooking Long Island Sound, comes to the rescue. It's a perfect setting for singles to meet and fun for couples to enjoy. AQUA is located upstairs from Wave Restaurant. Doors open at 8 p.m.

  • STONY BROOK: A VILLAGE LOST TO TIME

Where/When: Port Jefferson Village Center – Port Jefferson, Saturday, May 14; Sunday May 15 from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Why Go: At this exhibit, explore Stony Brook Village pre-1940 as depicted through photographs. Original photographs from the collections of the Three Village Historical Society and individual collectors have been enlarged, offering captivating, detailed images of the individuals, architecture and landscape of Stony Brook.

  • 2011 UPDATE ON MELANOMA AND SKIN CANCER SCREENING

Where/When: – Stony Brook, Saturday, May 14 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Why Go: An educational presentation about Melanoma and Skin Cancer Screening will be held at the Cancer Center Lobby of Stony Brook University Hospital. Learn about the latest treatments for melanoma.

  • DISCOVERY WETLANDS CRUISE

Where/When:   - Stony Brook, Sunday, May 15 at 10 a.m.
Why Go: Experience and embrace the ecology, geology and history of Stony Brook Harbor and the nearby wetlands at West Meadow Creek.

  • WINE DOWN SUNDAYS AT BLISS

Where/When: – East Setauket, Sunday, May 15 - Bar opens at 4pm, dinner opens at 5 p.m.

  • WALK THROUGH HISTORY: DOWN THE WAYS, THE WOODEN SHIP ERA

Where/When: Setauket Dock – East Setauket, Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m.
Why Go: Two-hour tour will be guided by historian Beverly Tyler. Explore the bones of schooners revealed by the low tide and learn the history of shipbuilding in Setauket.
