Stony Brook University

Lessons given by Vincent of VM Bass are done in the comfort of your own home. One-on-one lessons are $25 for a half hour, $35 for 45 minutes and $45 for an hour, with your first half-hour lesson free. His lessons include instruction of technique, theory, and of course songs.

The University Cafe hosts open mic night every Wednesday night. The cafe is closed for renovations until Aug. 30, but after then check the website for more information and other events.
The Velvet Lounge

Wednesday is open mic night at the Velvet Lounge, which is located next door to The Curry Club. The Velvet Lounge invites all musicians to come down on Wednesdays with their instruments to take a turn on stage. The lounge also hosts karaoke nights and features various musical performances throughout the week.
