Event Spotlight: Wellness Events for All Ages

Head to World Gym or Murphy Junior High for health and wellness resources.

On Saturday, two wellness events will take place in Three Village, including one that targets senior citizens and their caregivers, and one that benefits the charity Contractors for Kids.

The Association of Generational Experts for Seniors (AGES) will bring together more than 60 healthcare service and product provider exhibitors for the "Health and Wellness Resource Expo for Older Adults and Family Caregivers." The free event will be held at World Gym Setauket between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

AGES, a networking group with both for-profit and not-for-profit entities, is expecting a turnout of around 1,000 people.

"The focus is on seniors and their family caregivers. Many older adults and their 'sandwiched' generation children are not prepared or know where to turn for available assistance when needed," said Alan Goldman, chairman of the event.

Across town, at Murphy Junior High, the annual 5K run/walk will take place with registration starting at 7:30 a.m., a kids' fun run at 8:15 a.m., and the run/walk starting at 9:30 a.m.

Attached to this year's event is a health and wellness fair from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The run will benefit Contractors for Kids, which helps families in need of assistance due to a child's illness, injury or death.
