Billy Joel to Play Madison Square Garden Monthly

MSG announces monthly concerts so long as there is a demand. First four shows are sold out.

Oyster Bay's own Billy Joel has agreed to perform monthly at Madison Square Garden so long as there is a demand, MSG announced Tuesday.

The legendary musical icon announced recently that he would play the Garden in January. Three additional shows, one each month through April, are already sold out and a May show is planned.

The performer, 64, grew up in Hicksville and owns a home along the waters of Oyster Bay.

The first four previously announced shows -- Jan. 27, Feb. 3, March 21 and April 18 are sold out. MSG just announced a May 9 show, which coincides with the singer's 65th birthday, will be available to Citi card members during an exclusive pre-sale from Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. through Dec. 6 at 10 p.m.

Tickets will then be available for purchase by the general public beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7th.

"Since his first show in 1978, Billy has performed 46 shows at Madison Square Garden, including an unprecedented 12 consecutive sold-out shows that have earned Billy a spot among the Garden greats with a banner raised in his honor," said James L. Dolan, executive chairman, The Madison Square Garden Company.

"Today, we take that relationship even further and are extremely honored to have Billy as The Garden’s first music franchise,” Dolan said in a press release.
