Beach Cleanup Set for Saturday at West Meadow Beach

Beach will get a good once-over as part of the International Coastal Cleanup.

As part of the 28th annual International Coastal Cleanup, the Town of Brookhaven is holding a community cleanup event on Saturday at West Meadow Beach.

"It was a busy summer and it is amazing how much trash is out there!" Eileen Gerle, the town's resident beach ranger, said in an email to Patch.

Don your closed shoes and work gloves and head to the beach from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Volunteers will comb the beach in search of trash to pick up and discard. Latex gloves will be supplied.

Gerle said last year's cleanup yielded an entire dumpster worth of trash.
