Back to School 2011: 10 Places to Shop for School Clothes

Get your kids of all ages ready for the 2011-2012 school year.

Back to School shopping is in full swing for the children of Three Village schools, with school starting before Labor Day this year. Patch talked to moms and dads in the area to find out where they like to shop for the kids' back-to-school attire and also to find out where the kids themselves like to shop.

When shopping for preschool kids and the early grade school years, the first thing parents think of is comfort and durability. These are the years that the kids learn while also getting messy. in South Setauket and The Children's Place located in the Smithaven Mall are both great stores to shop in for the younger kids in your family. You can find clothes that are inexpensive and comfortable for the little kids in the family. If you want to shop local and find that special first day of school outfit for your child, check out in Stony Brook.

When the kids are in grade school, shopping can start to get a bit harder. This is when the kids are starting to get more picky about what they wear. A great place to shop for grade school boys is in Setauket, which has the sporty look that the boys like for less. The Tony Hawk clothing line at Kohl's is a great choice for boys of this age. For grade school girls there is one store that all of the parents I spoke with said was thier daughters' favorite: Justice in the Smithaven Mall.

The parents of teens have the toughest job trying to dress their kids for back to school. This is the age when fashion and what you are wearing become so important. The most popular stores for the teens will bring you to the Smithaven Mall as well.

Aeropostale and Hollister are both popular stores for teens to find the perfect look for the 2011-12 school year. Abercrombie & Fitch is another favorite choice for the teenagers in Three Village, especially if they are looking for something a bit more mature to wear. To keep it more local, check out in Setauket or in Stony Brook.

So, essentially that first residential home is being written off as the price of doing business.Read More There goes that property value. Other than as a professional residence, who would want to live by a driveway for that traffic? As for the entrance Village Automotive, that will bring even more traffic to an already busy intersection nearby. 25A is impassable/impossible in that area for large chunks of the day now.

The rezoning is for the acres of undeveloped residential land across from Ann Maries Farm stand,Read More extending down to the wooded area on 25A. A one way entrance would be placed by Village Automotive and a one way exit would come out on N. Country Rd. adjacent to the first residential house.

Can you tell us where this property is? An address or street name?

I the BOE and Union didn't allow the majority of the budget be spent on benefits and salaries maybeRead More there would be money left for supplies. With declining enrollment and cuts to programs for our kids they only ones making out are teachers and staff with too generous salaries and benefits. Vote no on Tuesday!

Seriously? We are asked to send in enough supplies per kid each year to supply 5 kids. Where does itRead More all go? It gets lost, thrown out, or ends up back in the students home via backpack. The problem is not the lack of supplies, but a lack of personal responsibility. But if we send in enough supplies each year for ten or fifteen students, then we might be able to avoid the underlying problem.

everyone should research what all the school administrators are raking in and the multple levels ofRead More staff that exists at TVCSD. It is beyond reasonable to have salaries at that level and multiple administrators and assistants and directors and assistant directors and chairman etc. Teachers earn their fair share!
