With 154 affirmative votes cast out of a total of 159, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Stony Brook voted to name Rev. Margie Allen as its settled minister on January 13, the congregation announced this week.
Previously, Allen served as the consulting minister at UUFSB since 2011.
In a statement, Allen said she is delighted, saying that the overwhelmingly positive results of the vote show that "we have a partnership in ministry that is working well."
"We know each other now," Allen said. "We know what we have and what we need in order to become more effective agents for positive change – individually, within the congregation, and in the wider community."
