#88 – Spend Some Time at Benner's Farm

The farm has reopened after its winter hiatus.

The signs of spring's arrival may be hard to find just yet, but there is one place in town where those signs are bountiful: Benner's Farm.

According to its website, the farm has been around since the 1700s. Today, it is a family-friendly favorite situated in an historic district in East Setauket. The farm reopened in February after its winter hiatus, inviting the community to a that was just the first event in its 2011 program lineup.

All this week, for instance, the farm will open its doors for school-age children who are off for spring break, offering a variety of . Kids will plant seeds to start their own gardens, watch chicks hatch from their eggs, and see the newest additions to the farm – the baby goats and lambs.

The farm is also home to several seasonal festivals each year, like the Strawberry Fair in June, as well as camps, concerts and classes, and can also be reserved for birthday parties, scout trips and school events.
