Leaders on a National Stage

After accruing several awards at local and state competitions, Ward Melville’s chapter of Future Business Leaders of America, advised by business teachers Alyssa Gold and Carol Vonnes, had a remarkably successful presence at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif. In fact, it was the most successful showing in the club’s history.

Over the four-day conference, the FBLA members competed in various business events focused on different elements of the business world. With over 9,000 students in attendance, Ward Melville’s students brought home nine awards.


Congratulations to the following students who were recognized for their achievements at the FBLA National Leadership Conference:

Harrison Li – 4th place, Business Calculations

Eric Li, Sandy Yin, Carolina Zheng – 4th place, Computer Game & Simulation Programming

Kyra Durko, Theo Gibbs, Carly Weber-Levine – 5th place, Banking & Financial Systems

Ramya Rao – 7th place, Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure

Michelle Liao – 8th place, Spreadsheet Applications
