Baking Bread for a Local Soup Kitchen

Minnesauke Elementary School kindergartners deployed basic mathematical counting skills as they completed a service project for those in need this holiday season. Demonstrating both kindness and compassion, the students worked with their teachers and parent volunteers to create nearly 80 mini loaves of pumpkin bread for the Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Setauket.
The students worked cooperatively to measure both dry and wet ingredients, prepare the batter, and gently pour it into prepared loaf pans. The finished products were baked by several class parents and donated to the soup kitchen in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
