Crimes Nearby: Cops Seek Purse Snatcher in Mt. Sinai

PORT JEFFERSON – MT. SINAI

Police are searching for a man who stole one woman’s purse as she shopped at the King Kullen in Mount Sinai and then attempted to steal another woman’s purse the next day as she was carrying groceries into her Mount Sinai home. According to police, on Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. the unknown man stole the woman’s purse as she was shopping at the King Kullen. Detectives believe that he is the same person who confronted another woman at her front door at 3 p.m. the next day when she returned home from the Pathmark in Port Jefferson Station. Police said he pretended to ask for directions and then attempted to steal the purse off her shoulder.

After a fight on Oct. 19 at about 10:40 p.m. between two men on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station, one was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital with a cut above his eye and swelling on his head.

Christina Fry, 32, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested on Oct. 17 on petty larceny charges, a misdemeanor. Reports state Fry was arrested stemming from a Sept. 6 incident where she was hired to clean someone's home and took money from the homeowner's nightstand drawer.

Semiya Davis, 20, of Brentwood, was arrested on Oct. 15 on criminal mischief with intent to damage property charges, a misdemeanor. Reports state Davis was arrested stemming from an Oct. 4 incident where she kicked in the door of a residence, causing damage to the door and the lock.

Alec Josefsberg, 18, of Locust Valley, was arrested on Oct. 15 on petty larceny charges, a misdemeanor. Reports state he was arrested stemming from a July 5 incident where he stole a white iPhone.

John Watkinson, 21, of Nesconset, was arrested Oct. 18 and charged with misdemeanor count of criminal possession of stolen property. Police said the arrested was for Jan. 28 at approximately 5:29 p.m. when Watkinson allegedly sold jewerly not belonging to him, a necklace with pendant and metal chain, to Pawnbrokers of America. Watkinson also allegedly stole jewelry, a 14-karat white gold ring with two pearls on Feb. 27 and attempted to sell it to Jewelry Traders in Selden, according to police reports.

COMMACK – HAUPPAUGE

Julie Behlen, 31, of Commack, was arrested Oct. 20 and charged with one felony count of possessing a forged instrument in the second degree. Behlen attempted to have a forged prescription for oxycodone filled at Commack Drug & Surgical at approximately 3:45 p.m, according to police. She told officers she thought it was an old prescription for an elderly family member.

Nana Agyemang, 28, of the Bronx, was with Commack residents (removed) and Ethan Grant, 21, on Oct. 14 when they were arrested at the intersection of Vanderbilt Parkway and Harned Road in Commack. Police said they found more than 16 ounces of marijuana among the three men who were believed to be working together in drug trade, according to reports. Each of the three men was charged with one felony count of criminal possession of marijuana, greater than 16 ounces.
