#99 – Find a Good Book at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library

We'll continue our new "100 Things to Do in Three Village" series with one of the oldest institutions in town: .

Three Village's public library is a majestic, historical structure with a reputation as one of the top libraries around. In fact, a national rating system made it official, ranking Emma as the last year. Director Ted Gutmann said the library saw around 30,500 visits per month in 2010.

"We definitely do see a spike in attendance during the summer months," he said. "December's usually our lowest month in terms of attendance, but it stays pretty level."

With the freezing weather we've had as of late, who wants to hang out outside, really? The library has over 200,000 items to choose from. Ask a librarian for a recommendation or stop by the new books cart next to the adult reference desk to see the new arrivals. Perhaps even take a chance and explore a new genre? It boasts a special collection for local history and a website to help you find what you're looking for. You can take a book home or relax in one of the library's reading rooms, including its historic 1892 reading room, all the while staying warm inside.
